  • Got my first one!

    It's been a childhood dreram of mine, long forgotten in a world of GarageBand and the likes. But now I eventually got myself a nice Korg microkorg. My first "real" synthesizer. Not some Software with a midi controller attached to it but the real thing. It's very impressive how this little device buzzes, squeaks and whistles! I'm still getting familliar with the Korg and am looking for an adequate but not too expensive sequencer software for the Mac. Any idea? Rosegarden works with Linux, but somehow it's not possible to use a different preset for each track with it. Even when disabling all "concurrent" tracks.

    That's cool :) I think it's nice to have a "real" synth too - although I think a MIDI controller with software on a PC provides a viable alternative. These days, it seems to me that if you were to take a MIDI controller and bundle some software within it, with the necessary buttons & stuff, you'd have a synthesizer, so it seems basically the same. :) But I think having a "real" synthesizer is more convenient if you want to travel with it.

    whistles! I'm still getting familliar with the Korg and am looking for an adequate but not too expensive sequencer software for the Mac. Any idea?

    I imagine GarageBand could be used for that purpose, couldn't it? From what I remember, I think it can record audio tracks, so you should be able to plug the synthesizer into your computer and record with it.
