Dallas is blessed with some great coverbands. If anyone ever visits the area check to see if any of these are gigging...
Pure Collins - Great Genesis/Phil Collins cover band
Metal Shop - Hair band tribute (Poison/GnR/Ratt/Bon Jovi etc)
Triple Threat - 80's-90's lot of garage rock but some classic too
Ashmore - Great collection of 70's onwards
Battle Ax - Powerful all-female rock group
If you're in the area, post your favorites, or if not, post your local faves in case I visit.
I think it's fun to see bands playing familiar music.
As far as my local area, I'd probably have to make a plug for Probable Cause - My dad used to play in this Portland-area band years ago (it was co-founded by my dad and his friend and a couple other people), but right now, my dad's friend is the only original member still in the band:
