• What is the healthiest fast food option in the US?

From Mike Dippel@999:1/1 to All on Thu Jan 8 21:48:16 2026
The second one you eat per week.

While fast food is never optimal, what makes it particularly bad is the frequency. If you
have fast food once every couple of weeks you are generally fine. Eat the most salty,
greasy, sugary thing you can get your hands on and enjoy: it will not damage you. That
    is fine.

The problem with fast food arises when you have it weekly or multiple times a week.

That is when things get really sketchy, because you eat fatty, greasy, salty, sugary fast
food multiple times a week instead of eating nutritionally solid, rich and varied food. You
can afford a nutritionally poor and too calorific meal once or twice a month, sate your
craving if you are a fan.

What you can't afford is eating like that too often. So what makes fast food unhealthy is
the number of times you have it, not the intrinsic properties of one meal.

    Mike,

The problem with fast food arises when you have it weekly or
    multiple times a week.

My late brother hated cooking and cleaning, and he'd go out to Hooters
every day, spending $75 for beer, food, tobacco, etc. What he spent in 4
days would get me groceries for a whole month.

Now, I may order once or twice a month from DoorDash, but that's all I
    can afford.

However, with the recent snow and ice storm, I'm glad I never lost
power, and have plenty of StarKist Tuna Salad variety packets, and lots
of Kraft Sweet Honey Barbecue sauce.

That was similar to my late brother's diet. He died at age 55.

Let's hear it for StarKist tuna and BBQ sauce; two of my favorites! Maybe I'll have you
    over for dinner some night.
