• What is the healthiest posture for eating?

There is an old saying in etiquette that one should bring their food to their mouths, and
not your mouth to the food.

When one leans over to eat (slouch/gulp) you are collapsing the esophagus and making
swallowing more difficult because your chin drops to your chest.

Sitting upright goes beyond table etiquette, it decreases the chances of choking and
assists your food toward its goal, the stomach.

This is very important for the elderly who often have swallowing and chewing issues, as
well as fatigue and other problems with self-feeding.

Never eat lying down, hanging over your food on the table, or on your back.

It just makes more risk factors for trouble like gas, choking, and aspiration (food inhaled
into the lungs which can cause pneumonia.)
