Sat down and watched both the original Christmas Story and the recently released sequel A Christmas Story Christmas. We all loved it, my kids prefered the oringinal, but my wife and I LOVED the new one as we can relate to it as we are older now and parents.
Why have I never heard of A Christmas Story Christmas?! I guess thats on my list for this year; thanks. :P

It's a fairly new release. I think I had just heard of it a couple
weeks ago.

I agree Ganiman. This new sequel was directed towards us the adults and not necesarily our kids. The original will always remain a classic. As for the original cast it surely was exciting to see how many of the original actors returned. It definitely added that extra magic this
movie needed.
