• Message Reader

From BitGuy@21:2/128 to All on Tue Jul 29 12:01:33 2025
    Hi all,

Question for you all... I am currently running Mystic v1.12 A48 on Linux and the stock message reader is somewhat annoying that it stops after 24 lines and throws up a menu with several items and (C)ontinue. I have notice that on several other BBS's (Agency BBS and Al's Geek Lab BBS) the message reader allows you to scroll down and up to read the full message without that annoying menu. Does anyone know what they are using for a message editor or can the owners of the BBS's listed chime in?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Cheers,
    BitGuy

Have you tried setting the message reader in "Account Settings" on the main menu screen to Full?

Dang I feel stupid now. :-)

    Thanks for that ogg!

I was looking for a way to make that the default setting for the message reader. Any idea if there is a way to make it the default?

    Many thanks,
    Mike

    Hi ogg,

I also set it to "Full Editor". The question about (C)ontinues still appears when a post is too long and after hitting (C) you can no longer see the first part. Is this due to the line limit of the client software?

Open "mystic -cfg". Under Configuration/New User Settings 2, look for
"Message Editor". Set it to Full.

I've always just used my up/down arrows to scroll through them. It's not as "elegant" as other ways, but it allows me to "scroll" at will. Just one of
the idiosyncrasies of Mystic I guess!
