We've installed backup generators at home. The power goes out plenty,
but it is the week long outages that raise havoc with our properties.
My late Father-in-Law traveled the world supporting large scale UPS installations. Always fascinated me, as literally millions were spent
to "keep the lights on."
Back to the domestic situation, I am using small battery-UPS units to bridge the brief power interruptions when the system switches to backup generator and back. On their own I don't think I have enough battery
to bridge a day, so it is more about protection from switching than another later of UPS protection.
... If all the world is a stage, where is the audience sitting?

I have friends with Tesla Powerwalls, live in an area with occasional
multi-day outages. My solution is a bit more MacGyverish.

In Poland we have oil fueled generators as last stand backup at houses
to keep up refrigerators and other critical appliance, usually. But I
see more and more photo-voltaic solutions on the roofs. Some places like every second house have them.
Texas needs more nuclear, gas, and coal power plants. it hardly happens here. I hope you have less power outages.
