The US national debt has exceeded 40 trillion dollars for the first time. 40,000 billion dollars. It is accelerating, and all brakes are off for the Trump administration. Four years ago, the Republican narrative was very different. Back then, the budget had to be balanced, no matter what. Now, that is no longer an issue at all. That is how it always goes with the Republicans. Very monetarily conservative when they are in opposition, and going completely wild when they are in government.

Now, we still have debt but the first time in decades and decades are economy is growing faster than the debt.

So, before long we might be looking at a huge economy that is focused on the American citizen and the government spending is focused on the citizen and not the world governments.

What is happening is the US sawing-off the branch on which it is sitting. It's getting the door in its face with Canada, it gets slammed in Greenland, it gets laughed-at in Europe. Everybody is moving away from trade deals with the USA because they are not signed with a pen, not even an autopen, but with a regular Walmart pencil. What is a way to go today, changes tomorrow, stability in trade is gone. The US have become an unreliable trading partner in less than 20 months. "America First" will collapse, simple because there is too much outside of the USA which your economy needs and isn't getting ... look at the Ukrainian rare-earth minerals ... pfwoof ... gone.

But what is truly remarkable is that a majority of folks overthere don't understand that it is not the trading partner paying the tariffs, but the end-consumer in the USA ... "Great President, he's protecting the US economy" ... yeah, right ... only dummies believe that. Not because they think it is true, simply because they believe to think the way they were told to think. There's a difference between 'believing' and 'knowing'.

Also the relationship to NATO ... if it is so bothersome, then just pull out, NATO will not collapse, The US aren't even the greatest contributor (Germany is). What you just said is not true. It was a Biden thing. The US runs a little different... Though there are 50 states in the United States they are almost like 50 different countries doing their own thing... kinda.

Florida did not shutdown the state, all businesses open, and they didn't mandate the population to take the vaccine. The state of Florida thrived and is still doing well... Current governor wants co have people not pay property taxes on their primary residence. People died, yes there was a virus going around... but state is thriving and will continue to do this with great governance.

California shut everything down and and mandated the vaccine... and people died and everything related to the shutdown.

California once use to be the 5th largest economy... now they struggle.

Better management might help them, but COVID was a hoax and all they wanted to do is get people worked up enough to get rid of Trump.

Almost 20 TRILLION in investment in less that 20 months, Joe Biden boasted 1 trillion in 4 years.

Tariffs are working... here's an example... If you want to sell cars in the US you have to pay a tariff... Toyota didn't want to pay a tariff so it moved a manufacturing plant from Mexico to the US. There are several companies moving to the US to setup manufacturing to avoid tariffs and employ Americans.

I am Canadian, born and raised, and I'm also an American. I became a citizen later in life.

The country is big and there are differences as you cross it. Alberta, a western province of Canada is looking to hold a referendum to leave Canada... Not because of Trump but rather the idiots back east in Ottawa.

Trump is not trying to isolate the US from the world... Take a look at the US and Canada. The trade between the 2 countries is/was around ~$343 billion and the US spends ~80% of that and Canada spends the remaining 20%.

That is no fair or even close to being equal... All he's said was simple... you want access to the US let the US have access to the Canadian market.
