    We already have legal things in place for this. Ex: non-revokable trusts. You give your assets to a trusted third party and they give it back to you later. But it's not YOUR money - from a legal point of view.

    We had a schister around here pushing this for retirees. "Put your assets into a non-revokable trust so that the gov't can't take it when you have to go to assisted living." Then they get to that point and find that they only can get the bottom tier of assisted living because "they don't have enough assets."

    That probably happens to good, honest people. Members of congress won't let their money get too far away from them.
