• Back With A New Callsign

From Daryl Stout@1:19/33 to All on Sat Oct 31 19:02:11 2026
Sorry I've been out of the echo for so long. With my now doing ham
radio nets on a nightly basis (noted on my QRZ bio), plus dealing with
medical and weather issues, and updating the state square dance
federation website, and doing stuff for the Quarter Century Wireless Association (QCWA), I've had little time for the BBS.

I took a nasty fall at the QTH in July, and while nothing was broken
(I did sustain bruises on my knees, forehead, and nose, which was all bloodied), when I got home from the Emergency Room, I lost my grip on
the cellphone, and it fell to the porch, shattering the screen. The
label for returning the phone for repairs had the wrong address on it,
and they lost the phone (I had no phone for nearly a month).

I underwent a chemical/nuclear stress test, and an echocardiogram this
past week, and both came back "stable", with "no changes needed".

I went to the Huntsville Hamfest, my first out of state vacation in
9 years, and manned a table for the QCWA. However, a 15 hour bus ride (including transfers) each way, made for swollen feet...and all that
walking, just about did me in. I have a file in my D-RATS folder with
my report on the event, and a few photos.

I'm going to try to get back working with the BBS, with Arkansas now entering its fall severe weather season, there may be downtimes for thunderstorms.

    Lastly, I changed my callsign to NK5LA on June 5, 2026. It's a never
before issued callsign, which stands for the Nathan K5LA horns on the
Amtrak trains. For an overview of these horns, search on YouTube for CoasterFan2105 (Mike Washington), and search for K5LA Amtrak Horns.

    73,

    Daryl, NK5LA
