Foggy came before, and after, Seymour. The progression of that "position" went:

Michael Bates (Blamire) was only in the first 7 episodes. Pilot and 1st series.

First 14 episodes. He was there for the first two series. He left due
to illness. The Seymour actor left due to the illness of his wife,
IIRC. I think that Brian Wilde (Foggy) departed the first time because
he got tired of being the butt of many of the jokes, and maybe the
second time due to retirement but I don't remember for sure.

I stand corrected. My source only mentioned the first 7. But the character
was always written as a pompous twit. And as a foil for Bill Owen who was
the real star of the show. Although Marina was easy on the eyes. Bv)=

I don't recall Foggy's first turn in LOTSW. Just after he came
riding into town on the Brit version of a Greyhound bus. I liked his character much better than the former popmous twit, Seymour.

Me also. The Clegg-Compo-Foggy trio is my favorite. The one thing I liked about the Seymour era was that it brought us the Pegden family, although Wesley had appeared a time or two before then.

Wesley reminded me of some actual mechanics that I have known. And Dame
Thora Hird's character was the epitome of small town church ladies. Bv)=

I liked that one, too. I was partial to Wendy Richard's character.

Ms Brahms was easy on the eyes.

Indeed. I also liked her accent.

    Just regular Lunnon East-end Cockney.

Also like "Keeping Up Appearances" and "Doc Martin."

How about Good Neighbours? That was more hilarity. Or Vicar of Dibley?

I've never seen the former, but the latter has aired here at least once and I did enjoy it.

I am going to have to share this link with my mother. She is a huge
    fan of the show.

Good Neighbours (AKA "The Good Life") is available on FreeVee and Amazon's
Prie Video. You'll probably recognise one of the main characters, Penelope Keith from the many other BritComs she's been in. Notably "Yes, Minister"
    and "Yes, Prime Minister".

    Title: Minister's Famous Meatballs
    Categories: Beef, Breads, Herbs, Dairy
    Yield: 48 servings

    3 sl White bread
    1/2 c Milk
    2 lg Eggs, slightly beaten
    1 tb Prepared horseradish
    1 ts Salt
    1/4 ts Black pepper
    1 1/2 lb Ground beef
    1/2 c Ketchup
    1/4 c Maple-flavored syrup
    1/4 c Soy sauce
    1/2 ts Ground allspice
    1/2 ts Dry mustard

    Set oven @ 425ºF/218ºC.

Coat 2 baking sheets with cooking spray.

In a large bowl, soak bread in milk until soft. Stir in
eggs, horseradish, salt, and pepper. Add beef and mix
well. Shape into 1" meatballs and place on baking
    sheets.

Bake 10 to 15 minutes or until no pink remains.

Meanwhile, in a soup pot, combine the remaining
ingredients and 1/4 cup water. Bring to a boil, stirring
occasionally. Reduce heat to low, add meatballs, and
    simmer 5 minutes.

    They were both well played.

That name sure sounds familiar. I may need to check that one out.

Shifting gears - which Doctor is/was your favourite on Doctor Who?

I'm tossed up between Tom Baker (my first Doctor) and John Pertwee, his predecessor. I think the show has displaced L.O.T.S.W. as the longest
    running BBC program.
