I am in search of any documents and or files for CommNet. The networking backbone to the C-Net 64 and 128 BBS program.

Have you considered checking CommodoreNet bbs for these files? I haven't
been on there for a while but I understand the sysop has a huge cbm
software library. Also, particles bbs too. Both boards are running on c64's.

I am trying to search for that BBS telnet address and I am coming up with just lists of Commodore boards, but not one called CommodoreNet. Do you have their address?

You mean the multi BBS-platform communication they did in the mid to late90s? I was a member of CommNet but I was running Image BBS not C-Net.

I think the for the most part it was the regular BBS-to-BBS message transfer protocols with some key hub boards running additional modules that did the cross-connection/conversion to tie the other networks together (C-Net, Image, Color64 (iirc)) there
were just a few very awesome developers working on it.

Most sysops didn't see any of the code it would have been the hub sysops.

Hoy Brothers has the files to connect Image to DS2, He has them working but is having issues with connections I believe. Hopefully, one of these days he will get them working so at least the DS2 boards and Image boards can connect together via the network..

Not really, like I said it was mainly the hub boards that developed and had the code for it, they had like a custom protocol to be part of the other BBS network, then translate the posts into Image and then send it out and visa-versa. So more or less
they modified the other BBSs message transfer system to work on Image (or whatever BBS they were using) and then ran through the incoming and post it as if it game from another board in the local network. If you can figure out the message structure and
protocol of your BBS and then what you want to connect to its not too hard to work out (most of the message systems were very similar to each other). Just takes a bit of work.

Back in the day there were hundreds of messages showing up weekly this screenshot https://portcommodore.com/dokuwiki/lib/exe/fetch.php?media=larry:comp:bbs:slrbar.gif was from the time note the number of total posts and responses, those were actual
numbers. (sigh unfortunately the BBS crashed in 1999 or so and lost the bulk of the old messages, not sure how many were on it when I shut down the board in 2004.)

All of the disks I have were for the image network, mainly stuff to better transfer posts/emails between other image BBSs; there was a two-way transfer one so one board could both send and recive updates on one call (before each BBS had to call each
other to send), an archive component to pack up posts for smaller transfers, and there was going to be a distributed automatid BBS program update module but I don't think that was finished.

I'm not setup to dig through the old commodore disks right now.

I may have something on that, I was digging through my C-Net 128 files looked for your other PRG files you were looking for and came accross some manuals that are not the standard ones out there. I specificaly remember seeing a section in the manual about C-Net's Networking.

As for my post on FW2, I think I have all the files. Got the VR to work on C-Net 128 and that one file showed up in the scan. But looking at some of the files, there is mention of modifing prg.logon and that is where more docs may be needed.

As for my C64 BBS, it is real close to being networked. If Hoyvision could find that extra time or even K-Guide to figure out the issue. CommNet for DS-2 to Image will be active again.
