    I have a handheld transceiver, and im wondering what I can do with what I have. Do I really need a mobile table top radio. Or should I get a slightly more feature packed
    radio instead of a starter 60 buck one.

    You can do quite a lot of things with
    even the simplest of radios, but the
    most important part is the antenna.
    You need a decent antenna as up high as
    you can get it, preferably well above
    your roof line. You could adapt that to
    your handheld and see what you want to
    do from there.
