HMMM?, think I will search on DuckDuckGo to see if LID has a different meaning than what I remember.
I suppose LID never is in any exams given by civilian VEC's but
as I learned by hanging around the Radioroom Homeroom in High
School LID is used instead of a cussword by Hams to describe
someone they don't care to associate with.

I know back in the '70s, a "lid" refeerred to a hat, as in, "Hey, man, nice lid!"

Ed,
There needs to be something in the question pools about on the air etiquette. There are far too many who feel that "It's an EMERGENCY,
if their ROUTINE traffic, which they CERTIFIED as PRIORITY, isn't
given precedence...so their HEALTH AND WELFARE (ego) is destroyed.
The world, ham radio, nets, or any other hobby, revolves around
NO ONE. While ham radio is a HOBBY, many consider it an OBSESSION,
as if it's "Do You, Ham...Take Radio...To Be Your Lawfully Wedded
Spouse??". For that matter, it's what Sysops do to their BBS's. <G>

Everyone has opinions, I just have a problem having everyone
accepting My opinion.
But You, as a SYSOP have final word on your BBS.
Ed,
I may not always be right, but I'm never wrong (hi hi).
The same applies as a VE Team Liaison...but I try not to make
the folks at ARRL/VEC, especially when it's headed up by a female.
I was on VHF 2 meters for the first time in 6 1/2 years the other
night, and noted about the upcoming unsettled weather pattern...but
also on my being the VE Team Leader for the University Of Arkansas
At Little Rock (UALR) Ham Radio Club...and that we tested 4 times
a year on campus.
I got 4 inquiries...2 who had let their licenses lapse, and 2 who
wanted to upgrade. So, I have my contact email on the air, and also
alerted my VE Team that "we may be busy for our first session in
2026". We normally don't test during the winter months, due to the
potential for winter or severe weather.
I did note that the Technician Class Question Pool changes on
July 1...but no one has any idea how much of a change there will
be. Yet, if they study the wrong material beforehand, they are
just wasting their time and money preparing to take the exam.
To me, a Sysop, or Net Control, is the same as the head referee,
or the home plate umpire. They can send you to the showers in a
heartbeat. And, if one doesn't want to play by the rules, there
are plenty of other BBS's or traffic nets that they can take part
in.

KJ5EKH ... just restarted theBBS up and wanted to

I don't plan to upgrade my Advanced License, just only renew it
before the License expires.
I think I do that through using a FCC website.
When the date gets closer to the end date I will read up more
about it at their site

Ed,
There's only 250 kilohertz of spectru you don't have access to,
but I'm sure that it's more than enough for you.
I saw 2 notes on the ARRL website today:
1) Skywarn Recognition Day 2025 has been CANCELED. They hope to
set up a Spotter Recognition Event sometime in 2026.
2) The FCC ULS is back up, and VEC's are getting ready to send
in exam results from exam sessions since Sept. 30.
Also, the FCC has EXTENDED the deadline to renew licenses that
expired since Oct. 1, 2025 through March 5, 2026, to March 5,
2026. So, those licensees whose licenses had expired can keep
operating, as long as they renew by March 5, 2026. They will
have to pay the $35 renewal fee when they do.
