So after all this time i'd have to say that the people who left twitter/x have caused a huge improvement.
it's a much nicer place with less bots. i'm not a fan of the format but i check in every once in a while. each time it's a huge improvement.

¨ Synchronet ¨ ::: BBSES.info - free BBS services :::
How many people do you think left Twitter/X? Why did they
leave? I made an account 10 years back and checked it after
reading your message here and I have 426 followers...why? It
must be bots. I have a grand total of 5 posts in 10 years.
I do not understand. Shaking my head.
They went to BlueSky where they can enjoy their own SafeSpace.well twitter was a liberal echo chamber so when elon bought it he exp their practices. the people that left and encouraged everyone else t didn't like elon.
They went to BlueSky where they can enjoy their own SafeSpace. The
problem is social media is just as crazy as bbsing where people like
to be litteral twits to each other.
Re: twitter/xI only noticed it was loaded with ads and a lot of political hate and it kind of bored me so I just abandoned it. I will check it out again and see how much has changed in 10 years. Have a good day MRO.

i find this strange because i think we can all agree that nobody likes zuckerberg and what he's done over the years. these same people use faceboo with abandonment.
the only difference is zuckerberg is an asshole who keeps a low profile. elon is an ahole who doesnt.

For niche interest discussions, BSky and Mastodon are less noisy, and
don't try so corral you towards the algorithm-generated feed, over
a chronological list of posts from people you follow.
I regret activating Threads. The true cesspool is Instagram's "Threads" app, overflowing with low Cheers,
"Someone explain to me why people reverse in to parking spots!"

Some people are just ass-backwards.
well that's your algorithm. what it knows about you is what it shows you.

<chuckle> Good one.

i checked out bluesky. looks like total shit.
I hope they enjoy it there.

I don't know about this 'SafeSpace' business, but I've certainly found BSky to have a better signal-to-noise ratio than Twitter.
Similar on Mastodon/Fediverse.
Twitter is still a vaguely useful source of commentary on general interest/current affair type discussion, The community notes feature has helped immensely with the quality of information that propagates there.
For niche interest discussions, BSky and Mastodon are less noisy, and don't try so corral you towards the algorithm-generated feed, over a chronological list of posts from people you follow.
The true cesspool is Instagram's "Threads" app, overflowing with low quality copy-pasted rage-bait/engagement-farming nonsense. Almost like its algorithm celebrates mediocrity! "Someone explain to me why people reverse in to parking spots!" is not front page material, not the first time, not the 99th time today.
But for a long time, if you refreshed the page while viewing the
latter, it would silently switch back to the former. On the mobile
app it also appends "you may also like" posts to the end of
discussion threads. Both designed to show you more monetised
posts, even if you are not interested.
Mastodon doesnt do this at all, and BSky respects your settings.
If you avoid politics, BlueSky is actually more active in science/bbs/ansi/etc. I'm on both and use both for different reasons.
Yes, this seems correct to me. X has such a high usage rate of bots
or people faking as people from other countries trying get us at
each other.

if you're talking about x/twitter most of that political hate is from liberals and they are on bluesky carrying on.I had to reset my password for x it had been so long since I logged in I forgot it. The Ad Blocker was a great idea. Thank you. Nothing to see there really. Lot of my followers I picked up appear to be busty young women. I am popular again... hooray.
regarding ads, i use an adblocker. dont know why you dont use one.

Re: twitter/xWas curious about the bbs/ansi people you follow on BSky. I have avoided it because of the libtards, but if there's some good content, I'll check it out. If you have any recommendations, send them my way.

Linkdin is another one that I quit visiting for the same reason.

Yeah, I created a Twitter account around 2010 but I never really used
it. I was never really interested in seeing the posts there,
especially since they're limited to being very short.
twitter. i also used to post system news about my sites if there were issues. that was useful. i didnt have to be up for people to get news on my services.
Yeah, I created a Twitter account around 2010 but I never really used it.
Back then, Twitter was your friends posting from a bar or on vacation. I don't think it was very algorithmic at the time, but just starting to see companies moving onto it.

I used Twitter from the beginning, and I lament the cesspool it has
become. I still have an account there, but very seldom post anything
now.
I once visited a gov't facility where they manufacture 'something'.
Anyone who drives a car there is required to back into their
parking space... I guess to allow quick getaways.

And lately, nothing can be closer to the truth. I tire of it
