I disembarked for the last time. Alameda was slated for closure later in
1997. The place is home to a few breweries, winery, and a distillery.
Some of the best views of SF.
They built the highway set from the Matrix sequel on the grounds of the air base. You could see it from the ferry. I took the Alameda/Oakland ferry to San Francisco for work every day and got to watch it progressing.
If you look closely at the film, you can see the names of exits on 101 on the set, and they pass by the same place a couple of times.
